Study on pile-up irradiation techniques for decontamination of tea
The pile-up gamma irradiation techniques for decontamination of tea were conducted using dosimetry measurement of the product cartons irradiated The results indicated that the irradiation could be done with an overdose factor of less than 2 by position changes of the product cartons from the front to the back and from the top to the bottom. Dose effects on the total tea polyphenols and the total amino acids in the irradiated tea were studied. It was found that the optimal irradiation dose for decontamination of the tea was inbetween 3—6kGy.
