CORRELATION BETWEEN THE INHIBITION OF DNA POLYMERASE β ACTIVITY IN IRRADIATED PLATEAU PHASE CELLS AND THE RADIOPOTENTIATION BY CM
By the aid of a specific DNA polymerase ,α, inhibiter NEM, the DNA polymerase ,β, activity of irradiated platcau phase V,79, cell nuclei was observed. The results showed: there was no influence on the polymerase ,β, activity of celi nuclei (p,>,0.05). when the cells were treated with 4 or 10 mmol/L CM immeciately following 12 Gy irradiation. However, CM could depress polymerase ,β, activity of cell nuclei evidently after 2-6 h incubation. The degree of inhibition was enhanced with the increasing CM dosage. and with the prolorgation of incubation time. It implied that CM could inhibit the DNA repair and enhance laciaticn-induced DNA danage. Its inhibition rule was similar to that of CM on the PLDR of plateau phase V,79, cells under same experimental conditions. It is suggested that the inhibition of PLDR by CM might be through its effeet on polymerase ,β, in DNA repair system, and then resulted in the enhancement of cell killing
