MECHANISM OF SUPPRESSIVE EFFECT OF LOW DOSE RADIATION ON CANCER CELL DISSEMINATION IN MICE
In this paper, influence of low dose radiation on immunity in C 57 BL/6 mice injected with cancer cells was studied. In mice given 75 mGy WBI 24 h before injection of Lewis lung carcinoma cells or B,16, melonoma cells, the percentage of S-phase thymocytes and CD,3+, thymocytes, the splenic NK cell activity, IL-2 secretion and γIFN secretion were found to be potentiated 2~8 day after irradiation in comparision with the sham-irradiation mice. The results suggest that low dose radiation might suppress cancer cell dissemination via the enhancement of immune reactivity.
