DIRECT CHARACTERIZATION SITE-SELECTIVE PHOTOSENSITIZED DAMAGE OF DNA BY TRIPLET ACETONE
The interaction of triplet acetone with polyguanylic acid(Poly[G]). polyadenylic-guanylic acid(Poly[A,G])and single-stranded(ssDNA) were investigated in neutral aqueous solution using KrF (248 nm) laser flash photolysis. The characterized absorption spectra of transient species were observed for the first time. On the basis of a comparison of the transient absorption spectra of the dehydrogenated radical of dGMP and those of Poly[G], Poly[A,G] or ssDNA, we suggest that the photosensitized transient species are guanyl radicals. Therefore, site-selective photosensitized damage of DNA at the guanine moiety was characterized.
