The original strains, Saccharomyces cerevisiae CGMCC 2.1188, cultivated by malt extract were irradiated by 60Co source and the growth characteristics including the radiation resistance and the acid alkali-resistance were studied. The effects of pH value, temperature and time on the biosorption were studied. The results show that the radiation hardly influences the growth of the strain and the optimum growth pH value is 7.0. With pH value of 7.0, temperature at 30℃, and soaking time for 120 minutes, the cesium ions biosorption reaches the maximum. This study reveals that Saccharomyces cerevisiae can be applied to the treatment of wastewater with low concentration of cesium ions.Cited
