To observe the effect of γ-irradiation and UV on the mRNA expressions of ppGalNAcT2 (polypeptide N-acetylgalactosaminyltransferase-2) in K,562, leukaemia cells and study the relation of ppGalNAcT2 to tumor’s generating and developing. K,562, cells were exposed to different doses of γ-rays and ultraviolet, the expressions at mRNA level of ppGalNAcT2 were examined by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) within 12h. The results showed that the mRNA expressions of ppGalNAcT2 decreased evidently in two irradiated groups, and they were negatively relative to the dosage. The mRNA expressions of ppGalNAcT2 in K,562, leukaemia cells could be inhibited by radiation , it is postulated that ppGalNAcT2 might relate to some biological specificity of cancer cells, such as tumor’s invasion and migration.
