This paper studied the frequencies of chromosome aberrations in the lymphocytes of roentgenologists who had worked in this hospital at X-ray department for 5—20 years. They had accepted accumulative absorbed doses of 0.02—0.22 mSv/month, from Mar. 1971 to Feb 1991.The dose was not included before Feb. 1971. The results showed that frequencies of chromosome-type aberrations in lymphocytes of roentgenologists exposed to 1.5 Gy γ-rays (dose rate 0.30 Gy/min) were markedly lower than that in the cells of control group irradiated with 1.5 Gy alone (P< 0.001). According to dose levels the roentgenologists were divided into 3 groups, it did not find that the smaller the dose, the stronger the adaptive response.
