Polyvinyl acohol amidoxime chelate fiber (PVAAO) was synthesized bypreirradiation graft copolymerization and amidoximation. The chelating properties for Cu(Ⅱ),Pd(Ⅱ),Au(Ⅲ) and Hg(Ⅱ) ions have been studied. The experimental results showed that the irradiation dose influences the percentage of grafting,content of amidoxime group in the grafted product and its adsorption capacity. The adsorption capacity for metal ion Cu(Ⅱ) is 1.05mmol/g dry fiber.
