In general, tumor genesis is involved in multiple factors and stages. Many studies on tumor genesis not only have been focusing on the changes of nuclear genome, but also have been paying attention to the variations of mitochondrial genome, which is the only genetic material outside the nuclear. Recently, the interactions between nuclear and mitochondrial genome in tumor genesis have become the hotspot in biomedical research. Some studies showed that the unbalance of interactions between two genomes might play a key role in tumor genesis. We will review the current status on this field in this paper.Cited
