To investigate the effects of γ-irradiation on the biocompatibility of silk fibroin, the silk fibroin film was irradiated with different absorbed doses of 0, 25, 50, 100 and 200 kGy, respectively. The dermal cells were used as experimental cell model and cultured on the irradiated films. The molecular structure of silk fibroin was analyzed by FT-IR (Fourier Transform infrared spectroscopy). The graded toxicity and hemolysis had been tested. The results showed that there was no obvious change with the molecular structure of silk fibroin in the range of absorbed dose, meanwhile there was no significant effects on the growth and proliferation activity of dermal cells. And there was also no obvious toxicity to the cells and the silk fibroin film had the good hemo-compatibility. In conclusion, in the range of 0-200 kGy, the γ-irradiation has no significant effects on the structure and biocompatibility of silk fibroin.Cited
