Dogs were continualy exposed to ,60,Co r-rays at dose rates of 0.427 and 0.178 rad/day respectively for 3 years. The accumulated doses were 315.2 rad and 131.4 rad respectively. During the period of radiation and 3 years after, chromosome aberrations in peripheral blood lymphocytes have been observed. The results showed that the chromosome aberrations were mainly one hit-aberration, and the acentric fragmentt increased linearly with accumulated dose. According to the results, the acentric fragments can be used as a sensitive index for chronic radiation injury. Following three and six months after exposure the frequencies of acentric fragment decreased near to and within the control level respectively.
