EFFECT OF IONIZING RADIATION ON APOPTOSIS IN MOUSE PEYER'S PATCHES
The relationship of time—effect and dose—effect of apoptosis in mouse Peyer s patches after whole body irradiation (WBI) with different doses of X —rays was studied by the method of TdT —mediated dUTP nick end labeling (TUNEL) . The results showed that the number of TUNEL positive cells in mouse Peyer's patches were significantly increased following WBI with 2 Gy irradiation,While the number of TUNEL positive cells were decreased after WBI with doses of 0.05Gy and 0.075Gy X —rays. The results support the view that 2Gy irradiation promote the apoptosis of immune cells and the low doses of radiationsuppress theapoptosis of immune cells.
