The presented research was to explore the effects of the radiation preservation of Wenzhou Orange by ,60,CO ,γ, rays irradiating the fruits of the meddleseason variety "Weizhang" of Wenzhou Orange. Through several years of continuous studies from 1983 to 1986, it was determined that the optimum irradiation dose was 20-50 Gy when the fruits were wrapped in 0.015 mm thick ployethylene film. After storage of 80-100 days under the room temperature, the preservation percentage of well-kept fruits of irradiated orange was 104-110% as much as that of unirradiated orange, and no change in quality was observed.
