In this report, free radical yields in plant seeds (tomato, wheat, hot pepper and cucumber) irradiated by intense pulsed electron beam and ion beam were proved to be in positive proportion with doses. But the ability of seed germination is approximately in negative proportion with the free radical yield. Chromosomal aberrant frequency is approximately in positive proportion with the free radical yield in seeds. The results showed that the effectiveness of pulsed electron beam is stronger than that of pulsed ion beam. This methed proved to be simple and effective for using intense nanosecond pulsed electron beam and ion beam radiation to induce mutant in plant.
