THE EFFECT OF RADIOLYSIS PRODUCT OF WATER ON CORROSION OF METAL MATERIAL
In this paper the effect of radiolysis product on high-level radioactive waste (HLW) container is experimentally studied. Groundwater near deep repository is splitted into hydrogen, oxygen and oxidizing compounds (e. g., H,2,O,2,)under the influence of ionizing radiation, called radiolysis. It is of particular concern because itproduces an oxidation environment and an outward-migration redox front around each HLW canister, within which several important radionuclides(e. g., U, Np and Tc) are much more soluble and are migrated far away. The Fh lue of watevar solutionwith FeSO,4,(0.13 mol/L) in present experiment added under the influence of radioationof 0, 20, 60, 180 and 500 kGy(from 357 mV to 414 mV). Oxidation corrosion of copper, aluminium, iron and stainless stell metal contained in water under radiation is 0.2—6.1 times stronger than that under no radiation.
